Director Rob McDougall takes a trip in this new video for ‘Letting It Flow’ by Midnight Davis.

“The motion itself was very much influenced by early motion graphics pioneer John Witney, whose computer animations from the 60’s blew my mind. His work always felt like it was taking you on a journey of some sort, a style I tried to emulate by exploring ways of taking the viewer through the different boards, and by linking each board to the next in some way.”

The Caretaker / Leyland Kirby has release a free album via Bandcamp of extra tracks taken from his soundtrack of the Grant Gee film ‘Patience (After Sebald)’.

‘Patience (After Sebald)’ is a multi-layered film essay on landscape, art, history, life and loss – an exploration of the work and influence of German writer WG Sebald (1944-2001), told via a long walk through coastal East Anglia tracking his most famous book ‘The Rings Of Saturn’.

With the material for ‘Patience’ sourced from Franz Schubert’s 1827 piece ‘Winterreise’, Kirby’s signature sound palette of haunting piano chords, effected field recordings and the faded memory of found sounds is quite standard. It is how he bends these elements into half-dreamt, oddly comforting pieces makes him a continuing talent to follow.

Proper Songs’ Dog Ears is performing alongside Tiny Ruins, Tom Rogerson of Three Trapped Tigers, Mirel Wagner, Tarantula Waltz, Felix, The Singing Adams, Anna Meredith, Rob St John, Leah Kardos, Hyperpotamus, Fierce And The Dead, Alex Haynes, Stranded Horse and Our Feathered Embers.

Alongside hand screenprinted posters for this and previous Shhh events, Gallery Cafe will also play host to a series of artworks which engage with the idea of quietness. These will include improvised scores over silent films, audio sculptures, performances and documentary. Artists exhibiting include Stuart Bannister & Stevie Dickie, Patrick Coyle, Rita Evans, Luke Drozd, Claire McArdle and R.L.Wilson.
